About Us
Black Frog Brewery was born from a passion for brewing and a commitment to community. Founded by Christopher Harris, a Toledo native, Black Frog Brewery started as a humble garage project in 2014.
Inspired by Toledo’s nickname “Frog Town,” Chris combined his love for his hometown with his craft, opening a taproom in Holland, Ohio, in 2016. Since then, it has grown into a beloved staple in Northwest Ohio, known for great beer and the people who enjoy it.
In early 2025 Chris will be joined by his daughter and son in bringing his bold flavors and innovative ideas to Northeast Ohio at the new MidTown Collaboration Center. As Cleveland’s first Black-owned brewery, our new taproom represents not only growth but a chance to inspire others in the industry.
In October 2023, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb honored Chris’ pioneering work by proclaiming October 10 as Black Brewers Day, a moment that’s both inspiring and a reminder of the need for greater diversity in brewing.
